Strategic Comparison of Bargaining Scenarios

Imagine two distinct bargaining scenarios. In Scenario 1, a Proposer offers a split of $100 to a single Responder on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. If the Responder rejects, both get nothing. In Scenario 2, the same Proposer makes a simultaneous take-it-or-leave-it offer to two competing Responders; the first to accept the deal gets the proposed share, and the game ends. If both reject, all three get nothing.

Analyze how the strategic considerations for an individual Responder differ between Scenario 1 and Scenario 2. In your analysis, explain specifically why the introduction of a competing Responder diminishes the power of an individual Responder to enforce a personally 'fair' outcome.
