Strengths of Naturalistic Observation
The primary advantage of naturalistic observation is the high degree of validity, or accuracy, derived from collecting data unobtrusively in a natural setting. This approach provides a high level of ecological validity, or realism, because subjects behave normally without modifying their actions due to being observed. Consequently, it is much easier to generalize the research findings to real-world situations.

A researcher conducts an experiment to test memory. Participants are brought into a quiet, soundproof laboratory and asked to memorize a list of 30 random, three-letter nonsense syllables (e.g., 'QAS', 'VUK'). The researcher concludes that individuals who recall more syllables have a better memory. What is a significant limitation when trying to apply these findings to understand memory in everyday situations?

A researcher studies the dietary habits of 200 professional marathon runners and finds that their average daily caloric intake is 3,500 calories. The researcher then concludes that the average adult consumes around 3,500 calories per day. Which statement best analyzes the primary weakness of this conclusion?
