Strengths of Treatment Removal in Switching Replication

Incorporating a treatment removal phase into a switching replication design provides exceptionally strong evidence for an intervention's efficacy. By demonstrating a staggered onset of the treatment effect across two nonequivalent groups, and subsequently showing a reversal of that effect when the intervention is withdrawn, researchers can confidently attribute the observed outcomes to the treatment itself. This design not only confirms the replicability of the findings but also yields valuable insight into whether the intervention produces lasting benefits or if its impact diminishes once it is discontinued.
