Purpose of the Beta43 Subunit

Antigen 43 has an alpha43 subunit and a beta43 subunit. Beta43 is the beta barrel subunit. 

Beta barrel proposed structure: alternating hydrophobic and hydrophilic sections on beta sheets that they had observed. There are 18 sheets of them with shorter external loops.

Antigen 43 causes adherence of E.coli and drives flocculation, or cell adhesion.
