One finding in the research literature regarding students in STEM fields involves studying the demographics of computer science (CS) students and discovering that, even as the number of CS students increase over time, women in this field seem to be underrepresented in numbers. One research study looked into what differences there were between male and female CS students regarding their experience in studying computer science as well as why these differences might exist.
