The Allegory of Descending Angels and the Storyteller of Truth in Mosibat Nameh
In this allegory from Mosibat Nameh, Attar references a prophetic tradition about angels who descend to earth daily in search of spiritual gatherings of the 'people of secrets' (ahl-e raz) who speak of God. Attar expresses his own humility and aspiration: although he does not count himself among the true initiates, by writing about their secrets and praising God, he hopes the angels will recognize him and name him a storyteller of the Truth (qesseh-guy-e haqq).
