In this allegory from Attar's Mosibat Nameh, Ibn Sirin explains why he never envies anyone. He argues that every individual is ultimately destined for either heaven or hell. If a person is destined for heaven, their worldly blessings are minor compared to their eternal rewards, making envy pointless. If they are destined for hell, their future torment warrants pity and prayers rather than envy. Thus, envy is shown to be spiritually irrational when viewed from an eternal perspective.
