The Allegory of the Madman in the Graveyard in Attar's Asrar Nameh

In this section of the Asrar Nameh, Farid al-Din Attar employs the archetype of the wise madman (divaneh) who weeps in a graveyard to illustrate the ephemeral nature of the physical body and the essential role of faith. The madman explains that while all bodies turn to dust and 'salt', only the 'salt of faith' can save the soul from spiritual ruin. This allegory serves as a poignant reminder of mortality, urging the reader to abandon worldly attachments and prepare for the infinite spiritual journey.
