The Allegory of the Man in the Vat in Asrar Nameh

In Section 6 of Attar's Asrar Nameh, the poet presents the allegory of a man who stubbornly sits in a vat, refusing to leave until he is given fine Roman satin. Attar uses this tale as a metaphor for spiritual negligence and worldly delusion. Just as the man absurdly demands royal garments while confining himself to a vat, ignorant individuals trap themselves in the narrow confines of the material world. The poem urges the reader to emerge from this 'vat' of ignorance and worldly attachment to avoid remaining lowly and missing out on true spiritual elevation.
