This allegory describes a master who initially prays for all of creation to be blinded on the Day of Resurrection so that he alone may behold the Divine Beauty without any rivals ('enemies'). However, he later reverses this request, asking God to blind him as well. This shift reflects the realization that Divine Vision is so precious that it should be withheld even from oneself, highlighting the intensity of spiritual jealousy ('ghayrat') which exists both in the lover and, more profoundly, in the Beloved.
