The Allegory of the Old Woman and the Lost Thread in Asrar Nameh

In Section 12 of the twelfth discourse of Farid al-Din Attar's Asrar Nameh, the poet presents an allegory of an old woman who has lost her thread. When a man approaches her and asks her to tell him a story, she refuses, stating that she has no time for idle tales because she is entirely consumed by the search for her lost thread. This parable illustrates the state of a sincere spiritual seeker who is completely absorbed in their personal, profound quest and remains detached from worldly distractions and trivial pursuits.
