In Section 16 of the Mosibat Nameh, Attar of Nishapur uses the humorous tale of a peasant attempting to outsmart a cattle plague by trading his cow for a donkey. When a plague of donkeys subsequently strikes and kills his new animal, the ignorant peasant accuses God of being unable to distinguish a cow from a donkey. This parable serves as a spiritual allegory illustrating the futility of human scheming against Divine Decree (Qadar). It highlights the arrogance and ignorance of the human ego when it tries to evade fate and judges Divine Wisdom through the lens of its own limited worldly calculation.
