Section 16 - The Tale and the Parable

Original content

English translation

There was a peasant who had a sick cow; He had a pair of cows, but was without a donkey. By chance, a plague of cows broke out in the village; Fearing his end, that villager sought a turn of fortune. He immediately sold the cow and bought a donkey; He had a cow and bought a donkey in addition. When ten days had passed from the transaction, The plague of donkeys became apparent in that village. The foolish man said, 'O Knower of Secrets, You do not know a cow from a donkey!'
