چون پیمبر آمد از معراج باز
عایشه گفتش که ای دریای راز

راز بشنودی بگوش جان زحق
با دل من در میان نه یک سبق

گفت حق گفت ای نبی از حرمتت
گر بود یک دوزخی از امتت

دارم آن یک دوزخی را دوستر
از بهشتی صد ز یک امت دگر

گر مرا در امتی خط میدهی
با گناهم از کرم خط مینهی

مینگویم کز کسی بیشم شمر
از شمار امت خویشم شمر

چون برات و قدر دو شب زان تست
پس دو روز عید دو مهمان تست

گر براتی میدهی از آتشم
میرسد از قدر تو عیدی خوشم

گر مرا کسریست در معنی دین
جبر کسر من کن ای کسری دین

چون شکستم جبر من دایم بود
کسر را دانی که جر لازم بود

بود طوفان شفاعت پیش تو
آمدم با قحط طاعت پیش تو

بر در تو کم بضاعت آمدم
برامید یک شفاعت آمدم

تا ز دریای شفاعت یک دمی
بر لب خشگم چکانی شبنمی

زان شفاعت چون شود نومید کس
مشفع اندر آخرت هستی تو بس

نیست گر بر خویشتن رحمت مرا
رحمتت بس ای ولی نعمت مرا

ای وجودت رحمت خلق آمدست
درنگر جانم که بر حلق آمدست

خلعتش ز ایمان روز افزون فرست
آنگهش از حلق من بیرون فرست

دست آن داری که جان را جان کنی
درد دل را تا ابد درمان کنی

گر رفیق جان کنی ایمان پاک
جان بنازد تن بیاساید بخاک

در بن چاه لحد ای شمع دین
میبسم یک موی تو حبل المتین

من بدان موی از زحیر آیم برون
همچو موئی از خمیر آیم برون

چون کنم یاد از گناه خویشتن
ذکر دیوان سیاه خویشتن

شرم میدارم کز آن یاد آورم
دل از آن خجلت بفریاد آورم

چند خواهم بود مست خویشتن
داد میخواهم ز دست خویشتن

بس بود در پیش چون تو پادشاه
خامشی جان من فریاد خواه

آتش تشویر من تادیده شد
آب رویم از جگر بادیده شد

نقد من قلبیست درویش از همه
تو به کم بر گیر ای بیش از همه

کار من از یک نظر گردان تمام
زانکه کار تست کردن والسلام

English translation

When the Prophet returned from the Ascension, Ayesha said to him, "O Ocean of Secrets! You heard the secret from God with the ear of your soul, Share a single lesson of it with my heart." He said, "God said, 'O Prophet, out of respect for you, If there is one person in hell from your followers, I hold that one person in hell dearer Than a hundred from another community in heaven.'" If you grant me a decree among the community, With my sins, out of grace, you absolve me. I do not say count me greater than anyone, Count me among the number of your followers. Since the night of Bara'at and the night of Qadr are yours, Then the two days of Eid are your two guests. If you give me a document of salvation from the fire, A joyous Eid reaches me from your worth. If I have a deficiency in the meaning of faith, Mend my deficiency, O King of faith. Since I am broken, my mending is permanent, You know that the fraction requires a pull. The flood of intercession is before you, I came before you with a famine of obedience. I came to your door with little capital, I came hoping for a single intercession. So that from the ocean of intercession, for a moment, You may drip a dewdrop on my dry lips. Since no one will despair of that intercession, You are sufficient as an accepted intercessor in the hereafter. If there is no mercy upon me for myself, Your mercy is sufficient for me, O Benefactor. O you whose existence is a mercy to creation, Look at my soul which has reached my throat. Send its robe from the ever-increasing faith, Then send it out from my throat. You have the power to give life to the soul, To cure the heartache until eternity. If you make pure faith the companion of the soul, The soul will boast, the body will rest in the earth. At the bottom of the well of the grave, O candle of faith, I bind one hair of yours as the strong rope. By that hair, I will come out of the distress, I will come out like a hair from dough. When I remember my own sins, And mention my own black ledger, I am ashamed to remember it, I bring my heart to cry out from that shame. How long will I be drunk with myself? I seek justice from my own hands. It is enough before a king like you, That the silence of my soul is a seeker of justice. The fire of my shame was seen, My honor was blown away from my liver. My cash is a counterfeit coin, poorer than all, Take it for less, O greater than all. Make my affair complete with one glance, Because doing it is your affair, and that is all.
