متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

چون پیمبر آمد از معراج بازعایشه گفتش که ای دریای راز
When the Prophet returned from the Ascension,
Ayesha said to him, "O Ocean of Secrets!
راز بشنودی بگوش جان زحقبا دل من در میان نه یک سبق
You heard the secret from God with the ear of your soul,
Share a single lesson of it with my heart."
گفت حق گفت ای نبی از حرمتتگر بود یک دوزخی از امتت
He said, "God said, 'O Prophet, out of respect for you,
If there is one person in hell from your followers,
دارم آن یک دوزخی را دوستراز بهشتی صد ز یک امت دگر
I hold that one person in hell dearer
Than a hundred from another community in heaven.'"
گر مرا در امتی خط میدهیبا گناهم از کرم خط مینهی
If you grant me a decree among the community,
With my sins, out of grace, you absolve me.
مینگویم کز کسی بیشم شمراز شمار امت خویشم شمر
I do not say count me greater than anyone,
Count me among the number of your followers.
چون برات و قدر دو شب زان تستپس دو روز عید دو مهمان تست
Since the night of Bara'at and the night of Qadr are yours,
Then the two days of Eid are your two guests.
گر براتی میدهی از آتشممیرسد از قدر تو عیدی خوشم
If you give me a document of salvation from the fire,
A joyous Eid reaches me from your worth.
گر مرا کسریست در معنی دینجبر کسر من کن ای کسری دین
If I have a deficiency in the meaning of faith,
Mend my deficiency, O King of faith.
چون شکستم جبر من دایم بودکسر را دانی که جر لازم بود
Since I am broken, my mending is permanent,
You know that the fraction requires a pull.
بود طوفان شفاعت پیش توآمدم با قحط طاعت پیش تو
The flood of intercession is before you,
I came before you with a famine of obedience.
بر در تو کم بضاعت آمدمبرامید یک شفاعت آمدم
I came to your door with little capital,
I came hoping for a single intercession.
تا ز دریای شفاعت یک دمیبر لب خشگم چکانی شبنمی
So that from the ocean of intercession, for a moment,
You may drip a dewdrop on my dry lips.
زان شفاعت چون شود نومید کسمشفع اندر آخرت هستی تو بس
Since no one will despair of that intercession,
You are sufficient as an accepted intercessor in the hereafter.
نیست گر بر خویشتن رحمت مرارحمتت بس ای ولی نعمت مرا
If there is no mercy upon me for myself,
Your mercy is sufficient for me, O Benefactor.
ای وجودت رحمت خلق آمدستدرنگر جانم که بر حلق آمدست
O you whose existence is a mercy to creation,
Look at my soul which has reached my throat.
خلعتش ز ایمان روز افزون فرستآنگهش از حلق من بیرون فرست
Send its robe from the ever-increasing faith,
Then send it out from my throat.
دست آن داری که جان را جان کنیدرد دل را تا ابد درمان کنی
You have the power to give life to the soul,
To cure the heartache until eternity.
گر رفیق جان کنی ایمان پاکجان بنازد تن بیاساید بخاک
If you make pure faith the companion of the soul,
The soul will boast, the body will rest in the earth.
در بن چاه لحد ای شمع دینمیبسم یک موی تو حبل المتین
At the bottom of the well of the grave, O candle of faith,
I bind one hair of yours as the strong rope.
من بدان موی از زحیر آیم برونهمچو موئی از خمیر آیم برون
By that hair, I will come out of the distress,
I will come out like a hair from dough.
چون کنم یاد از گناه خویشتنذکر دیوان سیاه خویشتن
When I remember my own sins,
And mention my own black ledger,
شرم میدارم کز آن یاد آورمدل از آن خجلت بفریاد آورم
I am ashamed to remember it,
I bring my heart to cry out from that shame.
چند خواهم بود مست خویشتنداد میخواهم ز دست خویشتن
How long will I be drunk with myself?
I seek justice from my own hands.
بس بود در پیش چون تو پادشاهخامشی جان من فریاد خواه
It is enough before a king like you,
That the silence of my soul is a seeker of justice.
آتش تشویر من تادیده شدآب رویم از جگر بادیده شد
The fire of my shame was seen,
My honor was blown away from my liver.
نقد من قلبیست درویش از همهتو به کم بر گیر ای بیش از همه
My cash is a counterfeit coin, poorer than all,
Take it for less, O greater than all.
کار من از یک نظر گردان تمامزانکه کار تست کردن والسلام
Make my affair complete with one glance,
Because doing it is your affair, and that is all.
