English translation

The seeker came to the presence of Gabriel Like a dead ant before a huge elephant He said, 'O Sultan of the secrets of sciences, Your soul is like wax to the seal of the Invisible of the Invisible. O adopted brother of the host of messengers, The Mahdi of Islam and the guide of paths. You are both the Holy Spirit and the Trustworthy Spirit, The trustee of the revelation of the Lord of the Worlds. The arch-prophets (Ulu'l-'Azm) stepped forward from the ranks through you, The messengers received honor from you. Bearer of the Quran, the Torah, and the Psalms, You brought a hundred books from the Truth, all of them light. Your special dwelling is the pavilion of Divine Majesty, Your pure abode is the soul of Mustafa. You possess a hundred thousand peacock feathers, You have a station in the holiness of the Most Holy. You have been an interpreter for the prophets, You have expounded a hundred worlds of meanings. I am helpless and fallen from home and hearth, I am fallen into the world without head or foot. There is a pain in my heart, if there is a cure for it, Make a remedy, for it is intertwined with my soul like a vein.' Gabriel said to him, 'Go your own way, Go in safety and pursue what is right. We are in this pain continually, just like you, You go, our own pain is enough for us. I have one specific station out of a thousand, I do not have a particle of burden beyond that. If I cross beyond it by a single finger, My wings and feathers would burn like my finger. My limit right now is the Lote Tree (Sidrah), How can I get news from the Origin? From the awe that comes upon me every moment, I cannot explain it to anyone. For no one has the endurance for that hearing, Lest both worlds bid farewell to the soul. Since I became the bearer of His word, I became atoms out of reverence for Him. I can never bear that burden, Nor can I endure the abasement of being without that glory. From all this awe that is upon my soul, What is very apparent is my hidden self. I am not yet happy from the fear of Him, I still do not dare to remember Him. You mind your own business, for there is no path here, Otherwise, strike your head, since your head is not aware.' The seeker came to the guiding elder, And told him his story from beginning to end. The elder told him, 'Gabriel is the Trustworthy, The Spirit, meaning the command of the Lord of the Worlds. If you need a particle of Gabriel, You need a soul as a path for the command. For a time, Gabriel performed obedience and work, Seventy times, each being a thousand years. Until he had the courage to remember God, Before that, his portion was perpetual silence. Then he worked again just as much as the first time, Until he became a supplicant from the Creator. Lifetimes were spent in obedience and on the path, Until he called His name and became a supplicant. When all this was necessary for him to do, What will you do, O decrepit man? Gabriel, after so many years of work, Found the treasure of remembering the Creator. You do not think of your own shame for a moment, You audaciously speak His name. His remembrance is the marrow of all capitals, His mention is the adornment for the spirits. If the angels did not have His remembrance, They would not be His freed slaves.'
