کرد در کشتی یکی گبری نشست
موج برخاست و شد آن کشتی ز دست

سخت میترسید گبر هیچ کس
گفت ای آتش مرا فریاد رس

گفت ملاحش خموش ای ژاژ خای
آتش اینجا کی شناسد سر ز پای

موج چون هم مردکش هم سرکش است
در چنین موجی چه جای آتش است

گر کند اینجایگه آتش قرار
تا زند یک دم برآید زو دمار

گبر گفت ای مرد پس تدبیر چیست
گفت تسلیم است تا تقدیر چیست

چون برآید بحر تقدیرش بجوش
شیر گردد همچو مور آنجا خموش

English translation

A Zoroastrian sat in a ship A wave arose and the ship went out of control The helpless Zoroastrian was intensely afraid He said, "O Fire, come to my aid!" The sailor said to him, "Be silent, O babbler! How would fire know head from foot here? Since the wave is both a man-killer and rebellious In such a wave, what place is there for fire? If fire were to settle in this place The moment it breathes, its ruin would come forth." The Zoroastrian said, "O man, then what is the solution?" He said, "It is surrender, to see what destiny brings. When the sea of His destiny boils up, The lion becomes silent there like an ant."
