Section 11 - On the Virtue of the Commander of the Faithful Uthman, May Allah Be Pleased with Him

Original content

English translation

When the caliphate took its splendor from Uthman, From the east to the west, the world embraced faith. Through the perfection of God's grace and his striving, The world was established upon the true religion in his era. He was an ocean of modesty and a mountain of forbearance, His pure soul was drowned in the sea of knowledge. In generosity, he had no peer in the world, In loyalty to religion, he also had no equal. Since he was favored by the Master of the Two Worlds, Through being a double son-in-law, he became Dhu al-Nurayn (Possessor of Two Lights). His retinue possessed two true lights, From those two lights, two banners were upon his sleeve. Those two lights were like the two eyes of his soul, Rather, the two poles of the world of his mystical knowledge. Those two lights were as esteemed for him as the two worlds, Before each, both worlds seemed insignificant. Since the Prophet called him the very essence of faith, He also called him the Qaf of the Quran with his own breath. Until the breath rises from the Sad of the Trumpet, The Simurgh is sufficient for the Qaf of the Quran. It was hard, out of grief, for a handful of commoners, That he should be a mercy to relatives. Those who are full of wrath in all states, How could they ever see the beauty of mercy? He was seated reading the Quran, He had moored the ship of the sea of the Quran. When they raised the sword to slay him, Being so slain, he embarked on the ship. Inevitably, when his enemy left him headless, That head without a body concluded the Quran. When he brought the Quran to an end, he was struck, He struck the neck of his own enemies. Love for the Quran was a vein connected to his soul, Both his vein and body were entirely possessed by the Quran. As long as blood continuously dripped from his vein, Until the moment of death, his blood flowed in love for the Quran. Inevitably, the Quran, like a beautiful witness, Made that drop of his blood a beauty mark for all eternity. Nay, when that one drop of blood ran dry, It became the musk of the Quran, if blood can be musk. Nay, when that single drop fell outward, It became the heart of the Quran, and the heart fell from the blood.
