آنکه خاک پای او عیوق بود
خواجهٔ هر دو جهان فاروق بود

عارفی در امر معروف آمده
واقفی اما نه موقوف آمده

حق تعالی جمله دادش داد بود
لاجرم حق آنچه دادش داد بود

عین دلش خلق را عین الحیات
عین نامش حل عقد مشکلات

این خطاب آن که حق کردی خطاب
بر زفان روشن ترش از آفتاب

چون زفان حق زفان او رواست
دیدهٔ حق نیز آن او رواست

چون زفان و دیدهٔ زین سان بود
قصهٔ یاساریه آسان بود

گر سخن چون وحی خواهی قول اوست
دیو گشته لال از لاحول اوست

سایهٔ ذاتش چنان سر تیز بود
کز نهیبش دیو را پرهیز بود

سایه کز بالای او چستی گرفت
با همه دیوان بهم کستی گرفت

سایهٔ دین آفتاب رای اوست
سایه باری چست بر بالای اوست

هفده فرض آورده در پیش خدای
در درون هفده من دلقی بجای

مال و ملکش بود دلق و درهٔ
زان نمیترسید از کس ذرهٔ

خشت میزد او و قیصر دل دو نیم
دور ازو بر سنگ میزد سر ز بیم

شب نخفت از بیم او یک شهریار
او همه شب پاسبانی داشت کار

زو شکسته دل جهانی صف شکن
کرده اوسقایی هر بیوه زن

گر نکردی عمر بر فرمان گذر
عمر را عمره زدی زود از عمر

تا بزد بولؤلؤش زخمی چو برق
لؤلؤ خوشاب در خون کرد غرق

روشنائی از جهان در پرده شد
کان چراغ هشت جنت مرده شد

نی نمرد او زنده جاوید گشت
گر چراغی بود صد خورشید گشت

او چراغی بود نور روشنش
از درستی و درشتی روغنش

English translation

He whose foot's dust was the star Capella, The master of both worlds was Faruq. A mystic who came in enjoining good, Aware but not constrained. God Almighty granted him all justice, Inevitably, whatever God gave him was just. The essence of his heart was the Fountain of Life for the people, The essence of his name was the solution to knots of problems. This address is that which God addressed, On a tongue brighter than the sun. Since God's tongue is fitting as his tongue, God's eye is also fitting as his. Since tongue and eye are like this, The story of 'Ya Sariya' is easy. If you want words like revelation, it is his saying, The demon became mute from his 'La hawla'. The shadow of his essence was so sharp, That from its awe the demon would flee. The shadow that took agility from his stature, Wrestled with all the demons together. The shadow of religion is the sun of his opinion, A shadow, indeed, is swift upon his stature. He brought seventeen obligations before God, Inside a seventeen-maund patched cloak in place. His wealth and property were a patched cloak and a whip, For that reason he did not fear anyone an atom. He was making bricks, and Caesar's heart was split in two, Far from him, hitting his head on a stone in fear. Not a single king slept at night from fear of him, All night his work was keeping watch. From him, a world of line-breakers had broken hearts, He acted as a water-carrier for every widow. If he did not pass a lifetime by command, He would soon strike a minor pilgrimage (umrah) from Umar upon a lifetime. Until Abu Lu'lu struck him a blow like lightning, Drowning the lustrous pearl in blood. Light went behind a veil from the world, For that lamp of the eight paradises died. No, he did not die, he became eternally alive, If he was a lamp, he became a hundred suns. He was a lamp whose bright light, Was from the soundness and harshness of its oil.
