In the seventeenth discourse of Farid al-Din Attar's Mosibat Nameh, the spiritual traveler (Salik) approaches Water, praising its purity, life-giving nature, and essential role in creation. Water, however, responds by describing its own constant movement, restlessness, and spiritual thirst. It explains that despite its outer purity, it has no rest or peace and is itself a seeker. This allegory illustrates that even the most vital elements of the natural world are in a state of perpetual yearning for the Divine, instructing the Salik that they cannot find ultimate fulfillment in worldly forms and must continue their spiritual journey.
