In the Mosibat Nameh, Attar uses the allegory of a dying lover who smiles to illustrate the spiritual state of 'sobhe sadegh' (the true morning). When questioned by an observer about his joy during death, the lover explains that he possesses the 'sun' of the Divine Beloved within his chest, making his passing a joyous dawn rather than a cause for grief. Attar uses this narrative to demonstrate that for the spiritually realized, the annihilation of the ego (fana) and the departure of the 'night' of worldly existence is a 'correct' (savab) celebration of Divine presence, contrasting spiritual certainty with the external expectation of mourning.
