The Allegory of the Worm in the Stone in Asrar Nameh

In this section of Attar's Asrar Nameh, the poet recounts a tale of a man who drops his ring in a well. While trying to retrieve the ring, a black stone is brought up from the well. When the stone accidentally breaks open, a worm is found inside with a fresh green leaf in its mouth. This allegory illustrates the boundless nature of Divine providence and sustenance, demonstrating that God provides for and sustains all of His creations, even a tiny worm hidden deep within a solid stone.
