Spiritual self-effacement in the Prophet's path leads the seeker to the supreme spiritual state of being beloved by God (yuhbibkumullah). Jami employs the allegory of a treasure seeker who must follow the physical footprints left on the path to a hidden treasury; any deviation from these prophetic marks results in wandering astray and failing to reach the divine destination.
