English translation

God the Exalted spoke to the Prophet, Saying: 'Convey to the community with gentle speech: "If you love God, then follow me;" For the path is not outside of following.' The source of proximity to the Truth is following; For the followers, precedence is gained through following. Whoever becomes lost in following me Ultimately emerges from the collar of 'He will love you' [yuhbibkum]. Whoever risks his soul in following, The decree of 'Allah will love you' [yuhbibkumullah] will cherish him. A fortunate one, without suffering distress and pain, Was guided by fortune and luck to the head of the treasure. Along the path of the treasure-house, here and there, Footprints of him remained on the earth. Whoever set his eye upon that footprint, His fortune opened the way to the treasure-house. But he who took a path far from that footprint Got lost and did not find the way to the treasure-house. The treasure is the attraction of God, the Lord of favors; The way toward it is the observance of the Sunnahs [prophetic traditions]. The more one is bound by that observance, The greater and prior is his share of that treasure. Mustafa [Muhammad], who from the station of being drawn [by Divine grace] Was honored with the name of the Beloved. From creation, he is the first desired one; Eternally and everlastingly he is His beloved. Whoever desires partnership with him Must diminish his soul in the path of following. He must make himself resemble him, So that he may become prosperous like him. The attraction of the Truth will meet him on his path, And envelop him from head to foot.
