The Concept of Pak-Bazi in the Tale of Sheikh Abu Sa'id and the Gambler
In Attar's tale of Sheikh Abu Sa'id and the gambler in the Elahi Nameh, the concept of pak-bazi (pure play or total hazarding) is exemplified by the gambler's leader. The tale illustrates that just as the leader of the gamblers attained his position by playing with absolute sincerity and risking everything without attachment, the true spiritual seeker must demonstrate complete devotion and selflessness, abandoning all worldly attachments and spiritual hypocrisy (kazh-bazi) on the path to divine realization.
