Concept
The Death of the Nurse and the Journey to Rome in the Khosrow Nameh
In Section 33 of the Khosrow Nameh, the death and burial of the nurse (dāyeh) by Gol signifies the end of her archetypal role as the protective intermediary and confidante who enabled the lovers' connection. Following the burial, Gol and Khosrow embark on a journey to Rome (Rum). This transition marks a shift in the epic from a local, assisted courtship to a broader quest of exile and shared destiny, forcing the lovers to rely on their own resolve rather than maternal or narrative guides.
