By stating that the dialogue between beauty and love belongs solely to God, and that there is ultimately no lover or beloved other than Him, Jami highlights the doctrine of the unity of the lover and the beloved, wherein all earthly passions are viewed as manifestations of a single Divine reality hidden behind the veil of physical forms.
