The Futility of Escaping Fate in the Tale of the Astrologer King

In this tale from the Elahi Nameh, Attar illustrates the inescapability of destiny and the futility of relying on worldly sciences like astrology to avoid divine decree. The king uses his astrological knowledge to predict a time of calamity and attempts to protect himself by hiding in a stone house. Ironically, by sealing the only window to prevent any harm from entering, he suffocates himself. The allegory demonstrates that human efforts to outsmart fate often become the very cause of one's doom, emphasizing the necessity of spiritual submission and letting go of worldly attachments over intellectual calculation.
