(3) The Tale of the King Who Knew the Science of Astronomy

Original content

English translation

That king knew astronomy well; He became aware that at a certain hour of a certain month, He would become helpless in the hands of a calamity. In short, he constructed a place out of stone. When he built a proper house out of granite, He requested many guardians. When he entered the house, he saw a small opening; Since he saw light in the house from that opening, With his own hand, he blocked the opening, So that he remained alone, imprisoned in the house. There was no way out for him, and he became bewildered; In the end, as soon as he drew breath, he was slain. If you wish to advance at every step, You must inevitably renounce yourself. If you do not renounce yourself and the world, When death comes, you will do so whether you say it or not. Since eating and sleeping do not last in the end, When death comes, what will you do in the end?
