مگر یک روز ابراهیم ادهم
بپرسید از یکی درویش پر غم

که بودی با زن و فرزند هرگز
چنین گفت او که نه، گفتا زهی عز

بدو درویش گفت ای مرد مردان
چراگوئی، مرا آگاه گردان

چنین گفت آنگه ابراهیم کای مرد
هر آن درویش درمانده که زن کرد

به کشتی در نشست او بی خور و خواب
وگر فرزندش آمد گشت غرقاب

دل از فرزند چون در بندت افتاد
که شیرین دشمنی فرزندت افتاد

اگرچه در ادب صاحب قرانی
چو فرزندت پدید آمد نه آنی

اگرچه زاهدی باشی گرامی
چو فرزند آمدت رندی تمامی

English translation

One day, Ibrahim Adham Asked a sorrowful dervish: "Have you ever had a wife and child?" He said, "No." Ibrahim said, "What glory!" The dervish said to him, "O man of men, Why do you say this? Make me aware." Ibrahim then said, "O man, Whosoever of the helpless dervishes marries, Has embarked on a ship without food or sleep, And if a child comes to him, he is drowned. Since your heart fell into bondage because of the child, For your child has become a sweet enemy. Even if you are a master of spiritual discipline, Once your child appears, you are no longer that person. Even if you are a respected ascetic, When a child comes to you, you become a complete rogue."
