در فضیلت مرتضی رضی الله عنه / On the Virtue of Murtaza, May Allah Be Pleased with Him

ز مشرق تا به مغرب گر امامست
امیرالمؤمنین حیدر تمامست

گرفته این جهان زخم سنانش
گذشته زان جهان وصف سه نانش

چو در سر عطا اخلاص او راست
سه نان را هفده آیة خاص او راست

سه قرصش چون دو قرص ماه و خورشید
دو عالم را بخوان بنشاند جاوید

ترا گر تیر باران بر دوامست
علی جنة جنة تمامست

پیمبر گفتش ای نور دو دیده
ز یک نوریم هر دو آفریده

چنان در شهر دانش باب آمد
که جنت را بحق بواب آمد

چنان مطلق شد اودر فقر وفاقه
که زر و نقره دادش سه طلاقه

اگرچه سیم و زر با حرمت آمد
ولی گوسالهٔ این امت آمد

کجا گوساله هرگز رنجه گردد
که با شیری چنین هم پنجه گردد

چنین نقلست کورا جوشنی بود
که پشت و روی جوشن روشنی بود

ازان چون روی بودش پشت جوشن
که بر بستش بدان اندام روشن

چنین گفت او که گر منبر نهندم
بدستوری حق داور دهندم

میان خلق عالم جاودانه
کنم حکم از کتاب چارگانه

چو هرچ او گفت از بهر یقین گفت
زبان بگشاد روزی وچنین گفت

که لو کشف الغطا دادست دستم
خدا را تا نبینم کی پرستم

زهی چشم و زهی علم و زهی کار
زهی خورشید علم و بحر زخار

دم شیر خدا می رفت تا چین
ز علمش ناف آهو گشت مشکین

ازین گفتند مرد داد و دین شو
ز یثرب علم جستن را به چین شو

اسد کو ناف خانهٔ آفتابست
ازان آهو دمش چون مشک نابست

خطا گفتم که ازمشک خطایست
که او هم نافه و شیر خدایست

اگر علمش شدی بحری مصور
درو یک قطره بودی بحر اخضر

چو هیچش طاقت منت نبودی
ز همت گشت مزدور جهودی

کسی گفتش چرا کردی، بر آشفت
زبان بگشاد چون تیغ و چنین گفت:

لنقل الصخر من قلل الجبال
احب الی من منن الرجال

یقول الناس لی فی الکسب عار
فقلت العار فی ذل السؤال

همیشه چار رکن عالم آباد
ز سعی دو خسر بود و دو داماد

English translation

From east to west, if there is an Imam The Commander of the Faithful, Haydar, is the complete one The wounds of his spear have seized this world The description of his three loaves of bread has surpassed the other world Since in the matter of giving, his sincerity is true For three loaves of bread, seventeen verses are specific to him His three loaves, like the two discs of the sun and moon Seated both worlds at his table eternally If you face a continuous shower of arrows Ali is a shield, a complete shield The Prophet told him, 'O light of my two eyes We are both created from one light' He became the gate to the city of knowledge in such a way That he truly became the gatekeeper of paradise He became so absolute in poverty and destitution That he gave gold and silver a three-fold divorce Although silver and gold came with respect They became the calf of this nation How could the calf ever bother To grapple with such a lion? It is narrated that he had a chainmail Both the front and back of which were radiant The back of his armor was like the front Because he fastened it on that luminous body He said, 'If they place a pulpit for me And give me authority by the right of the Judge, Among the people of the world eternally I will judge by the four books' Since whatever he said was for the sake of certainty One day he opened his tongue and said this: 'That 'If the veil were lifted' has given me power How would I worship God if I did not see Him?' Hail to that eye, hail to that knowledge, hail to that deed Hail to that sun of knowledge and the swelling sea! The breath of the Lion of God reached China From his knowledge, the deer's navel became musky Because of this they said, 'Be a man of justice and religion Go from Yathrib to China to seek knowledge' Leo, which is the navel of the sun's house Thus the deer's breath is like pure musk from it I spoke in error that it is from the musk of Khata For he is both the musk pod and the Lion of God If his knowledge were depicted as a sea The green sea would be but a drop in it Since he had no tolerance for obligation Out of magnanimity, he became a hired laborer for a Jew Someone asked him, 'Why did you do this?' He grew agitated Opened his tongue like a sword and said thus: 'To carry rocks from the peaks of mountains Is dearer to me than the obligations of men People say to me there is shame in earning But I say shame lies in the humiliation of begging' Always the four pillars of the inhabited world Were sustained by the effort of two fathers-in-law and two sons-in-law
