چنین خواندم که در محشر جوانی
درآید وز خدا خواهد امانی

بغایت جرم او بسیار باشد
ولی قاضی فضلش یار باشد

ملایک می کنند آنجا شتابش
که پیش آرند در دوزخ عذابش

همی حالی خطاب آید ز درگاه
که از چه می کشید او را درین راه

چنین گویند می تازیم او را
که تا در دوزخ اندازیم او را

خطاب آید دگر اما معما
که هستیم ای عجب با او بهم ما

شما را این نمی باید شنودن
که ما هر دو بهم خواهیم بودن

ملایک این سخن نشنیده باشند
نه هرگز این کرامت دیده باشند

ازین هیبت همه خاموش گردند
بلرزند آنگهی بیهوش گردند

خطاب آید جوان را کای پریشان
چه می پائی هلا بگریز ازیشان

جوان گوید خدایا در چنین جای
که نه سر دارد این وادی ونه پای

کجا یارم شدن از رستخیزی
که نیست این جایگه راه گریزی

خطاب آید که ای در عین مستی
بیا در ما گریز از جمله رستی

جوان گوید مرا این یارگی نیست
که نقد من به جز بیچارگی نیست

مگر تو فضل خود در کار آری
مرا در پردهٔ اسرار آری

خداوندش بپوشد از کرامت
کند پنهانش از خلق قیامت

بدولت جای اسرارش رساند
بخلوتگاه دیدارش رساند

ملایک چون بهوش آیند آنگاه
نه بینند آن جوان را بر سر راه

بجویندش بسی اما نیابند
بهر سوئی بمردی می شتابند

بحق گویند خصم ما کجا شد
مگر در عالم باقی فنا شد

بهشت و دوزخ این ساعت بجستیم
نمی بینم و از وی دست شستیم

تو میدانی الهی کو کجا شد
اگر با ما نگوئی جان ما شد

خطاب آید که این از حکمت ماست
که در پرده سرای عصمت ماست

چو او را هست پیش ما قراری
شما را نیست با او هیچ کاری

کنون او داند و ما جاودانه
شما را رفت باید از میانه

عنایت چون ز پیشان یار باشد
کجا اندر میان اغیار باشد

ولی اول نبی را در هدایت
نماید آفتابی در عنایت

عنایت گر ترا با خاص گیرد
همه نقصان تو اخلاص گیرد

کند دیدار خویشت آشکاره
که تا کارت نباشد جز نظاره

English translation

I read that on the Day of Resurrection, a youth Enters and begs God for safety. His transgression is exceedingly great, But the Judge of His grace is his friend. The angels there make haste with him, To bring him to the punishment of Hell. Immediately, a call comes from the Divine Court: 'Why are you dragging him along this way?' They reply: 'We are rushing him, So that we may cast him into Hell.' A call comes again, but in a riddle: 'How strange, We are together with him! You must not hear this, For the two of us will be together.' The angels had never heard such a word, Nor had they ever seen such a favor. At this awe, they all fall silent, Then they tremble and lose consciousness. The call comes to the youth: 'O distressed one, What are you waiting for? Come, flee from them!' The youth says: 'O God, in such a place, Where this valley has neither head nor foot, How can I escape from the Resurrection, Since there is no path of flight in this place?' The call comes: 'O you in the midst of intoxication, Come, flee unto Us, and you are saved from all.' The youth says: 'I have no power for this, For my cash is nothing but helplessness. Unless You put Your grace to work, And bring me into the veil of secrets.' His Lord covers him with grace, And hides him from the creatures of the Resurrection. With good fortune, He brings him to the chamber of His secrets, And delivers him to the sanctuary of His vision. When the angels regain consciousness, They do not see that youth on the path. They search for him a lot, but find him not; They run to every side in haste. They say to the Truth: 'Where did our adversary go? Did he perhaps vanish into the eternal world? We searched heaven and hell this hour; We do not see him and have washed our hands of him. You know, O God, where he went; If You do not tell us, our souls will be lost.' The call comes: 'This is from Our wisdom, For he is in the pavilion of Our protection. Since he has a resting place with Us, You have nothing to do with him. Now it is between him and Us eternally; You must depart from between us.' When grace is a friend from before, Where can strangers stand in between? But first, the Prophet, in guidance, Shows a sun of favor. If favor embraces you with the elite, All your deficiency will turn to sincerity. He will make His vision manifest to you, So that your only task will be gazing.
