چو بوالفضل حسن در نزع افتاد
یکی گفتش که ای شرع از تو آباد

چو برهد یوسف جان تو از چاه
فلان جائی کنیمت دفن آنگاه

زبان بگشاد شیخ و گفت زنهار
که آن جای بزرگانست و ابرار

که باشد همچو من صد بی سر و پای
که خود را گور خواهد در چنان جای

بدو گفتند ای نیکو دل پاک
کجا خواهی که آنجا باشدت خاک

زبان بگشاد با جانی همه شور
که بر بالای آن تل بایدم گور

که آنجا هم خراباتی بسی هست
هم از دزدان بی حاصل کسی هست

مقامر نیز بسیارند آنجا
همی جمله گنه گارند آنجا

کنیدم دفن هم در جای ایشان
نهید آنگه سرم بر پای ایشان

که من درخورد ایشانم همیشه
که در معنی چو دزدانم همیشه

میان این گنه گارانست کارم
که با آن کاملان طاقت ندارم

چه گر این قوم بس تاریک باشند
بنور رحمتش نزدیک باشند

چو جائی تشنگی باشد بغایت
کشد در خویشتن آبی نهایت

که هر جائی که عجزی پیش آید
نظر آنجا ز رحمت بیش آید

English translation

When Abu'l-Fadl Hasan was in the throes of death, Someone said to him: 'O you by whom the Sharia is made prosperous,' 'When the Joseph of your soul escapes from the well, At such-and-such place we shall bury you then.' The Sheikh opened his tongue and said: 'Beware! For that is the place of the great and the righteous.' 'Who is a wretch like me, To desire a grave in such a place?' They said to him: 'O good, pure-hearted soul, Where do you wish your dust to be?' He opened his tongue, his soul filled with passion: 'My grave must be on top of that hill,' 'For there are many taverns and ruins there, And some of the fruitless thieves are there as well.' 'Gamblers are also numerous there, And all of them are sinners there.' 'Bury me in their place, And then lay my head at their feet.' 'For I am always fit for them, Since in essence I am always like thieves.' 'My place is among these sinners, For I have no capacity to be with those perfect ones.' 'What if this group is very dark? They are close to the light of His mercy.' 'Wherever thirst is extreme, It ultimately draws water to itself.' 'For wherever helplessness arises, The gaze of mercy falls there even more.'
