در فضیلت فاروق رضی الله عنه / On the Virtue of Farooq, May Allah Be Pleased with Him

متن و ترجمه / Text and Translation

امام مطلق و شمع دو عالمامیرالمؤمنین فاروق اعظم
The absolute leader and the candle of both worlds,
The Commander of the Faithful, the greatest Farooq.
چو حق را وفق نام او کلامستز فرقانست فاروق این تمامست
Since the truth has spoken in accordance with his name,
He is named Farooq from the Furqan; this is complete.
دلش چون دید حق را درحرمگاهبدل پیوست عین عدل آنگاه
When his heart saw the Truth in the sanctuary,
The very essence of justice then joined with his heart.
چو عین عدل ودل افتاد با همز عدلش موج زن شد هر دو عالم
When the essence of justice and his heart came together,
Both worlds became overflowing with his justice.
چو در دربست جاویدان ستم راگشاد از عدل خود ملک عجم را
As he closed the door of oppression forever,
He opened the realm of Persia through his justice.
عرب از وی قوی شد اول کارهمه خلق عجم زو گشت دین دار
The Arabs became strong through him at first,
And all the people of Ajam became religious because of him.
چو آهن گشت از صلبی او مومگشاده کرد قفل رومی روم
When iron turned to wax because of his firmness,
He unlocked the locks of the Romans of Rome.
دو پیراهن چنان خصم تنش بودکه در اسلام یک پیراهنش بود
Two shirts were such adversaries to his body
That in Islam he had only one shirt.
چو در دین آمد او یک پیرهن داشتچو آن یک برکشید این یک کفن داشت
When he entered the religion, he had only one shirt;
When he pulled off that one, this one was his shroud.
ز بس کو پاره بر آن پیرهن دوخترسید آنجا که دلق هفده من دوخت
From patching that shirt so much,
It reached the point where he sewed a cloak of seventeen mann.
ز بار هفده او را آشکارهرسد هجده هزارش پاره پاره
From the weight of seventeen, clearly to him
Come eighteen thousand patches.
چو شد هجده هزارش گرد بر پاسچرا از هفده من پوشید کرباس
When eighteen thousand patches gathered at his feet,
Why did he wear canvas of seventeen mann?
چو آن یک پیرهن سامان اوداشتحلاوة لاجرم ایمان او داشت
Since that single shirt was his only possession,
He inevitably possessed the sweetness of faith.
نکیر و منکر از مردی و زورشنیارستند گشتن گرد گورش
Nakir and Munkar, out of his manliness and strength,
Dared not roam around his grave.
چو باشد محتسب فاروق عالینگردد هیچ منکر در حوالی
When the exalted Farooq is the inspector,
No forbidden thing wanders in the vicinity.
چو باشد محتسب در امر معروفبه نهی منکر آید نیز موصوف
When the inspector is in command of the good,
He is also characterized by the forbidding of the evil.
پیمبر چشم خود خواندش زهی قدرچراغ خلد هم گفتش زهی صدر
The Prophet called him his own eye—what a status!
He also called him the lamp of paradise—what a leader!
چراغش کرده شرق و غرب روشنکه نه شرقیست ونه غربیش روغن
His lamp illuminated the East and the West,
Whose oil is neither of the East nor of the West.
چو او چشم و چراغ آمد ز درگاهتو بی چشم و چراغش چون روی راه
Since he became the eye and the lamp from the divine threshold,
How can you walk the path without his eye and lamp?
اگر نبود ترا چشم و چراغیز گلخن فرق نتوان کرد باغی
If you do not have an eye and a lamp,
You cannot distinguish a garden from a furnace.
ترا پیوسته چشم خویش بایدچراغی نیز دایم پیش باید
You always need your own eye,
And a lamp must also constantly be before you.
که گر نبود چراغ و چشم در راهندانی چاه از ره راه از چاه
For if there is no lamp and eye on the path,
You will not know the path from the well, nor the well from the path.
تو بی این هر دو گر در راه افتیز کوری عقابت درچاه افتی
If you fall on the path without both of these,
From blindness, your punishment will be to fall into a well.
چو او از مصطفی چشمی چنان یافتزبانش نطق جبار جهان یافت
Since he received such an eye from Mustafa,
His tongue found the speech of the Almighty of the universe.
گر از کوران نه ای تو هوش می دارچنین چشم و زبان را گوش می دار
If you are not of the blind, be conscious;
Listen closely to such an eye and tongue.
کسی کان نور نبود در دماغشبهشتی گر بود نبود چراغش
Whoever does not have that light in their brain,
Even if they are in paradise, they will have no lamp.
چراغ چرخ خورشید منیرستچراغ خلد فاروق کبیرست
The lamp of the sphere is the shining sun;
The lamp of paradise is the great Farooq.
ز نفخ صور فردا جاودانیفرو میرد چراغ آسمانی
From the blowing of the trumpet tomorrow, eternally
The heavenly lamp will go out.
ولیکن این چراغ جنت افروزبود رخشنده تر از نور هر روز
But this paradise-illuminating lamp
Will be more radiant than the light of every day.
