The Hidden Sovereign Heart and Its Unveiling Beside the Righteous

In this section of Jami's Haft Awrang, the true heart (دل) is distinguished from the physical, conical organ. The body is a cage and the heart the parrot hidden within it; the heart is likewise a king whose tent (خرگه) must not be mistaken for the king, so the seeker is urged to leave the tent and look toward the king. Planting the rosebush of the soul in clay had, from eternity, the single aim of bringing forth the bud of the heart, which upon blooming contains all the horizons, so that the world and its inhabitants are lost within it. This openness or unveiling of the heart is attained only beside the righteous and possessors of the heart (صاحبدلان), while whoever seeks it solely within their own side remains deprived.
