English translation

O you, beside whom the heart is in a veil, Never having brought its head out of this veil. The heart, of which every secret is its creation, The heart in the veil is its own veil. Come out for a moment from the veil of negligence, So that this secret may unveil itself. The heart is not this conical physical form, Rather, this is the cage and the heart is the parrot. If you do not distinguish the parrot from the cage, By God, you are not a human but a half-human beast. The heart is the king of a pavilion, and this body is the pavilion, No one bestows the name of the pavilion upon the king. The king is one thing and the pavilion another, Leave the pavilion and gaze upon the king. When they planted the rosebush of the soul in the clay, The eternal purpose was the bud of the heart. When the bud of the heart begins to bloom, The horizons begin to hide within it. The universe and its inhabitants are lost in it, Like a drop of moisture in the vast ocean. The sphere of heaven is but a bud from the garden of the heart, Speech is but a melody from the songs of the heart. The element of grace is a rose from its garden, The mound of earth is but a speck of dust from its path. Be free for a moment from its magic, The seven seas are but the shell for its single pearl. The nine heavens are but a vestibule before its door, Before its reality, the world is a non-entity. The signet ring of religion adorns the hand of its discipline, The sky of its books is the engraving of its seal. The keeper of the hidden treasure of eternity, The charter for spreading the bounty of infinity. The orchard of its generosity is never-failing, The fruit-eater of its sanctuary is never forbidden. Its polo-ball is not at the mercy of you and me, Its thread is not pulled by our beads. Rather, we are at the mercy of its hand, Bound to its thread like beads. It is like the morning breeze, and we are like dust, It is like the meadow's cloud, and we are like spring. How can the wretched dust rise from the earth, If it does not cling to the skirt of the breeze? How can the greenery lift its head from the meadow's soil, If the thread of the cloud does not cast down its rope? From it comes our giving and our forgiving, From it comes our decreasing and our increasing. The body is alive through the soul, and the soul is alive through the heart, Yet not every living creature is worthy of the heart. To be alive through the heart is a matter of intimacy, This art is the exclusive quality of human beings. Without a living heart, what difference between a corpse and you? Deprived of this honor, what difference between a wall and you? The heart cannot be found through the schemes of intellect, Pass beyond yourself, for it cannot be found by oneself. This which you see on your left side, It is better if you turn away from it. Seek a righteous one, so that by their side, Your heart and soul may become alive from their fragrance. For years, one must drink the blood of the liver, And make the dust of the road the kohl for one's eyes, In the hope that you may catch the scent of a living heart, And turn your face toward the path of the living of heart. The heart becomes alive through selflessness, Not from great learning and many skills. It is better if you burn your own harvest, Than to light a lamp for acquisition. Finding the way to selflessness, Is better than consuming the smoke of your lamp. If you do not sit in leisure from yourself, The smoke of the lamp will give no light. Why do you set out on the path with a lamp, Whose smoke will only blacken your house? Seek a lamp that has no smoke, Make it your guide toward the goal. That is the reflection of the light of the Master's heart, Which is world-conquering like the sun. Do not avert your eyes from that exalted light, Lose your own existence in that light. Like the sun, if you do not set fire to yourself, Even if you become the dawn, you will not breathe pleasantly.
