Concept
The Just King as the Shadow of God in Jami's Royal Panegyric
Jami presents the just king as the earthly shadow of God: a ruler whose visible qualities reflect the attributes of the divine source, as a shadow reflects its bearer. Royal glory therefore reveals divine splendor only when kingship is joined with justice and protection of the weak. This metaphor supplies a theological basis for political authority while making ethical conduct the sign of legitimate rule.
