The Metaphor of the Universe as a Single Workshop in Golshan-e Raz
In Section 12 of Golshan-e Raz, Mahmud Shabestari employs the allegory of a potter's wheel (چرخ فخار) to illustrate the unity of creation. He compares the revolving celestial spheres to a potter's wheel, from which the Divine 'Wise Judge' continuously shapes new forms out of water and clay. The central philosophical point is that despite the diversity and continuous changes in the cosmos, everything in space and time originates from a single Master and is produced in a single 'workshop' (کارخانه). This metaphor emphasizes the concept of Divine Unity (Tawhid) underlying the multiplicity of the material world.
