The Principle of Technological Dominance

Imagine a scenario where two production techniques, Technique X and Technique Y, can both produce an identical product. Technique X requires 5 units of labor and 10 units of raw material. Technique Y requires 5 units of labor and 12 units of the same raw material. Explain why Technique Y would never be chosen by a profit-maximizing firm, regardless of the price of labor or the price of the raw material. In your explanation, characterize the relationship between these two techniques.
