In Section 28 of Jami's Haft Awrang, the allegory of the drop and the ocean reaches its resolution. When summer comes, the frozen drop melts and flows back to the ocean, losing its independent existence and recognizing nothing but the sea. Jami describes the water cycle—evaporation, cloud formation, rain, and torrential floods—as a metaphor for the mystical journey of the soul. The soul descends from the Divine, experiences temporary separation, undergoes purification, and ultimately achieves self-annihilation (fana) and reunion with the Divine Source.
