Section 28 - Return to the Entirety of the Parable

Original content

English translation

When the drop became water in the summer, That water flowed toward the ocean. Through its own flowing, it reached the ocean, And saw itself as nothing separate from the ocean. It lost its own existence within it, And recognized nothing other than it. Sometimes it saw it manifest in the form of a wave, Both in the trough and on the crest. Sometimes it saw it in the form of warmth and vapor, Flowing upward from the seashore. That vapor became condensed, and from it, Clouds were formed in the spring month of Naysan. The cloud began to drip and became rain, Increasing the splendor of the garden and orchard. When the drops joined one another, They became a flood, blocking the traveler's path. The flood, foaming and roaring, Turned its reins entirely toward the ocean. When it reached the sea and became calm, The journey of the ocean was completed in this cycle. When the drop saw this, it could not Deny what it had seen and known: That it is the wave, the vapor, the flood, and the cloud, It is the foam, it is the drop, it is the bubble. It recognized nothing in the world except the ocean, Whatever love it played, it played with it. When it looked to the left and to the right, It saw nothing other than the ocean. Likewise, the gnostics who follow the custom of love, Behold nothing but the Truth in the world. Everyone's gaze remains fixed on one place, But there are differences in their vision.
