The Third Stage of Love: Turning from the Beloved to Love Itself in Jami's Haft Awrang
In Section 41 of Jami's Haft Awrang, the poet describes the third and ultimate stage of love, where love reaches perfection. In this stage, the lover's focus is turned away even from the Beloved and is directed inwardly into love itself. The lover is no longer concerned with the individual identity of the beloved, but becomes entirely absorbed in the state of love, where the act of loving (hubb) becomes the sole object of devotion and the lover's entire being is conquered by and unified with love.
