The Timeless and Luminous Nature of Paradise in Attar's Asrar Nameh
In Section 5 of Fariduddin Attar's Asrar Nameh, a parable featuring Ali is used to elucidate the transcendent, spiritual nature of the Hereafter. When questioned about the existence of 'day' in Paradise, Ali explains that heaven exists beyond the temporal duality of day and night, and is devoid of literal suns or freezing cold. Attar describes how earthly bodies will become purely luminous and transparent in the afterlife, resembling a polished mirror. The poem emphasizes that in this divine state, material density is replaced by pure spiritual light, asserting that if one's body becomes light, all atoms of the universe will manifest as divine beauty and purity.
