In this section of Farid al-Din Attar's Elahi Nameh, the father instructs his son on the subtle nature of spiritual barriers, or veils (hijab). He warns that the pursuit of worldly rank (jah) is a profound trap. Furthermore, he explains that even being self-conscious of one's own religious obedience (ta'at) creates a spiritual veil, illustrating that if piety can obstruct the spiritual path, the distraction of worldly ambition is even more perilous.
