Theoretical Advantages of a Planned Economy

Proponents of planned economies argue for several theoretical advantages over market-based systems. A central authority can mobilize economic resources on a large scale to achieve specific goals, such as rapid industrialization or executing large infrastructure projects. This system can also theoretically reduce inequality by controlling wages and distributing wealth according to the state's objectives. Furthermore, by directly managing production and employment, a planned economy can aim to eliminate unemployment and prevent the boom-and-bust cycles characteristic of some capitalist economies.
