Transactional Model of Hostility and Social Strain

The transactional model offers a potential explanation for how hostility contributes to cardiovascular disease. It posits that hostile moods can create social strain through antagonistic interactions with others. This strain may then trigger disease-promoting cardiovascular responses. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle where hostility and social strain reinforce each other, ultimately harming cardiovascular health.
