Treatment as Usual (TAU)
Treatment as usual (TAU) is a control condition in experimental research where a group of participants receives the standard treatment typically provided according to accepted standards for their particular discipline. For example, psychiatric TAU might include standard psychotherapy, medication, or a combination of the two, rather than the novel intervention being tested.
