Vietnam War Veterans Study on Combined Psychological Risk Factors for Heart Disease (Boyle et al., 2006)
A longitudinal study of Vietnam War veterans by Boyle, Michalek, & Suarez (2006) examined the impact of various psychological states on cardiovascular health. The findings showed that while depression, anxiety, hostility, and trait anger each independently predicted the development of heart disease, a single combined variable of these attributes was an even stronger predictor than any of the individual factors alone.
