Weber's Law
Proposed by Ernst Weber in the 1830s, Weber's Law is a principle stating that the just noticeable difference (jnd), or difference threshold, is a constant fraction of the intensity of the original stimulus. This means that the amount of change needed to detect a difference is proportional to the initial stimulus level, rather than being a fixed amount.
