Concept
Why did most students choose massed practice?
- 6 students were randomly selected and interviewed face-to-face on why they choose their respective practice strategy.
- All students said that time was the most important factor that prevented them from completing the exercises daily.
- The explanation for why students did not want to practice every day was the cost of mental context switching.
- They said it usually took 3 – 5 minutes to answer one question. Therefore, it was not worth answering just one question.
- Another explanation: students felt massed practice could lead to a higher number of correct answers.
