English translation

He twisted his mouth and spoke mockingly of Muhammad, and his mouth remained twisted. He returned, crying, 'O Muhammad, forgive! O you who possess divine graces and inspired knowledge! I was mocking you out of ignorance; I was the one deserving of mockery and fit for it.' When God wills to tear the veil of anyone, He inclines their desire toward mocking the pure. And if God wills to conceal anyone's faults, He makes them refrain from speaking of the faults of the flawed. When God wills to help us, He turns our inclination toward weeping and supplication. O blessed is the eye that weeps for Him, and auspicious is the heart that is consumed for Him! The end of every weeping is laughter in the end; the man who looks to the end is a blessed servant. Wherever there is running water, greenery grows; wherever tears flow, divine mercy follows. Be like a waterwheel, lamenting and with a moist eye, so that Khidr may grow from the courtyard of your soul. If you desire tears, show mercy to those who shed tears; if you desire mercy, show mercy to the weak.
